You Can Learn Something About Life from a Roof Truss

A roof truss is a structural framework of timbers designed to bridge the space above a room and to provide support for a roof.

These are trusses being installed at one of my real estate projects.

Installing trusses at this project instead of framing the roof by hand saved me a lot of time and money. It took only two days to install the roof trusses. But it came at a cost. The cost was forethought, engineering and some patience. The benefits included lower overall cost for the roof, faster overall time to frame the roof, easier build of the roof and the ability to have wide open spaces in the rooms below.

And how does this relate to life? By investing some time and thought up front to design a lighter and stronger roof and having the patience to wait for it to be built and delivered from the truss manufacturer (which felt like it was slowing down the job- but it wasn’t), I achieved a superior result. As Abraham Lincoln said, “if I had eight hours to cut down a tree, I’d spend the first six sharpening my saw.”

Instead of rushing into your day, week, month, year and life, invest some time up front planning and preparing. The benefit will be a much easier and faster realization of your goals.
